Ontario reports lowest COVID-19 new case numbers in more than eight months as the Lockdown ends and听Canada听reaches the听2苍诲听position in the world听amongst all countries in听percentage of population vaccinated.听 Ontario health officials reported听525 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, June 7th. It is the lowest since September 2020听and the eighth听straight day with fewer than 1,000 new cases.听 The province鈥檚听鈥淩oadmap to Reopen鈥澨�Step One听will begin on听Friday, June 11th, a few days earlier than expected due to the successful vaccine rollout and ongoing improvements in public health trends.听 Step One听includes:听

• Non-essential retail at 15% capacity听
• Outdoor gatherings and public events of up to 10 people听
• Outdoor dining with up to four people per table听听
• Sports and training of up to 10 people听

The latest provincial data show that 70听per cent听of those 12 and older have now had at least one听COVID-19 vaccine听dose so Ontario is accelerating its second-dose vaccine rollout and will allow more groups to book an earlier second-dose appointment starting this week.听

More Vaccines Coming to Ontario and Canada听

The new vaccination timeline comes as Ontario sees its largest deliveries of COVID-19 vaccines so far. The province is set to receive听940,000 Pfizer听doses per week in听June听and听885,000听doses per week in听July.听 Canada officials confirmed the country will continue to receive more than听two million doses听of the听Pfizer vaccine听per week through to the end of August.听 COVID-19 vaccines are available to 杏吧原创 students who are 12 and older.听听
