Recently, members from the Ontario Lung Association鈥檚聽Youth Advocacy Training Institute聽were invited to Columbia to educate students on the tobacco industry.
Organized by the聽Student Development聽department, the workshops discussed two very important issues: the Tobacco Industry and Health Advocacy in the community.
Students learned how tobacco is intentionally marketed to youth and what role they can play in taking a stand against the industry. Students from the聽Health Action Team聽as well as senior students interested in pursuing post-secondary studies and future careers in health and medical fields attended the workshops.
Ms. Denise Bentum, Activities Instructor at Columbia, believed the sessions were great for students as they were both informative and interactive, giving students a hands-on learning experience and a unique learning opportunity.

Youth Advocacy Training Institute聽 The Youth Advocacy Training Institute (YATI) is a program of the Ontario Lung Association.
